Simply saying that we progress by adopting the truth, is not enough. Because, whatever we do, we do it only because of its benefits. Therefore, the benefits of adopting the truth should be stated more clearly.

Benefits of embracing the truth

  1. Suppose, you are a student of B. A. and a student of fourth grade comes to you to know how much is two multiplied by two. If you are unable to answer this question, you will feel the same guilt as you would feel, when despite being sixty years old, you are unable to answer the question of someone that what is the contribution of our ancestors in building a good society? This is the first advantage of knowing the truth.
  2. Seeing our ancestors’ love for truth, we feel proud of them. This feeling of pride makes us nationalists and lovers of our culture. If, despite not knowing the truth, a person has love for his nation, then it is certain that he has the sanskaraas of knowing the truth. By knowing the truth again, we will be able to pay true tribute to our ancestors and be able to answer the accusations made against them.
  3. Truth brings boldness in life.
  4. The truthful person avoids unnecessary worries and ideological entanglements, because he does not have to put in the effort of planning a lie.
  5. Believers and knowers of truth assume ability to be happy.

The benefits mentioned above, being practical, are enough to motivate us to know and embrace the truth.

Following are the obstacles in accepting the truth:

  1. Being engrossed in the accomplishment of our immediate goal, we become indifferent to the desire to know the truth.
  2. Our stubbornness of not following any person or book et cetra.
  3. Even if, our own beliefs are untrue, we are determined not to go against them.
  4. Ignorance – All material things act according to the order prescribed by God. This order does not change, irrespective of the situations. Though, religion of fire is to burn, but if, fire does not burn, that again will be in accordance with certain rules, whether we know them or not. Behind every action there must be a reason. A devotee of God is also burnt by fire, he also gets hurt, he also dies et cetra. Believing in miracles, that is, believing something to be without a cause is a great obstacle on the way to knowing the truth.
