UNMORALITY OF GOD

Morality and immorality are relative terms. Man will be moral or immoral but there is no question of morality or immorality in animals like dogs, cats et cetra, for the reason that animals do not act with the use of intellect. For this reason, animals are called unmoral beings. Some people are of the view that since God too, cannot be called moral or immoral, He should be called unmoral. These people raise the doubt that since God Himself is unmoral, how can He make human beings moral? In reply, we want to say that unmorality of God and that of non-living beings and beings other than humans is not of the same kind. Actually, the way in which we can call man moral, in the same way or sense we can call God also as moral. Animals et cetra cannot be placed in the categories of ‘moral beings’ or ‘immoral beings’ since all their acts are without the use of intellect. On the other hand, all the acts of God reflect the highest intellect.

As acts of good people are followable by all human beings, in the same way, qualities of God like love, justice, kindness et cetra are worth following. As such, establishing non-linkage between God and morality by calling God as unmoral is nothing but twisting of words. The fact is-man cannot be moral without believing in God.
