PROVING EXISTENCE OF GOD

When people talk of proof in favour of existence of God, they mean proving by direct cognition only. Actually, a thing is proved by four methods. First is the method of direct cognition. Second is the referral method, third is comparison or upmaan and forth is verbal testimony. What are these methods of proving a thing? When a thing is perceived by our sense organs, mind and soul, then that thing is said to be known by direct cognition provided such knowledge is final, doubtless and does not arise because of hearing of certain words, when the subject is related with a sense organ other than ears. When, we have the prior knowledge, based on direct cognition that two things appear simultaneously, then by having the knowledge of existence of one, we can know the existence of other thing through reference. When, we have knowledge of a thing through comparison of it with another object, then we are said to have used third method of proving, that is, ‘upmaan’. When we use the words of a specialist of that field to prove a related matter, then we call that ‘proving by verbal testimony’. God can be proved by direct cognition, referral method and verbal testimony. Although, God can be proved by direct cognition also but comprehension of the matter becomes subtler. As such, generally God is proved either by referral method or by verbal testimony. When we notice that nothing exists in this world without its creator, then it is proved that universe, which has millions of celestial bodies bigger than Sun, which is 13 lakh times bigger than the Earth, too, has a creator. The creator of this universe is named as God. Vedaas being words of God provide ultimate, doubtless and perfect knowledge about all the fields. Words of Vedaas at many places talk of existence of God. Rishis, Maharishis, who can be called scientists of ‘THE TRUTH’ talk of existence of God in their writings. These words are verbal testimony, in proof of existence of God.
