PAIN, PLEASURE AND THEISM

Generally, people think of pain or pleasure of a person by looking at the means of pain or pleasure gathered by such a person. They think that all the persons living in palaces are happy and all the persons living in prisons are unhappy. But people, who understand happiness and painfulness in their real terms do not make such a mistake. Happiness and painfulness come from within and not from any external source. These are qualities of ‘self’. A person can be painful while having all the luxuries of the world and a person living in a prison spending his period of sentence can be happy. A person, who does not believe in God, cannot know about bliss. He considers pleasures derived from worldly objects as ultimate. When a trouble comes, when there is no person of the world to help him, when there is no one to console him, then, who will say to his paining heart, “Do not lose your heart. I am with you”. Compare such a person with a theist. Actually, a person, who understands the immortal character of self and feels the existence of God in every being can enjoy bliss, which is a much higher state than pleasures of the world.
