CREATION OF TIME

What do we mean by creation of time? In Sanskrit language, there are two words-samay and kaal. Both of these words are translated in English as time. samay was created but kaal is eternal and is never created. Time, that is samay is an imaginary thing. It is a mean adopted by man to measure a period during which or in which a particular incident takes place. Whatever activity man does can be measured through samay only. Samay is measured through movement of something whether that be hands of the clock, the Sun or performance of another activity. It is created as soon as there is first movement towards creation of the universe and will remain there till the last movement towards dissolution of this universe. There is no need of this imaginary thing between dissolution of universe and creation of the next universe for God, in whom Prakriti rests between its dissolution and re-manifestation. But, kaal remains forever, that is, even after dissolution of creation. Kaal is an eternal entity, for which manifestation or non-manifestation of prakriti means the same thing. It refers to the entity, through which God controls as to when re-manifestation of prakriti should begin. In the same way, direction, too, refers to two things-one, which gets created with the creation of samay and the second, which is eternal like kaal. The words- ‘Kaal’ and ‘Mahaakaal’ are also the names of God.
